After a successful Nike x Stranger Things collaboration, Nike will soon release the Air Max 97 sneakers that seem to be inspired by the Nintendo 64 console. It is interesting to note that both the Nintendo 64 and Nike shoes were released months apart in the middle of the 1990s. Since then, the two popular creations have seemingly joined hands for the very first time.

The Air Max 97 is accented with yellow, red, green, and blue over a grey base. It looks as if the sneaker has been recycled straight out of the classic Nintendo 64 gaming console.

Apart from that, the sneakers also feature the words ‘Reset’ and ‘Power’ embroidered on the shoe’s tongue with an ESRB insole logo. At the same time, typography similar to that of Nintendo is used for “Air Max” which is printed near the heel. Could the sneakers really be inspired by Nintendo?

Currently, however, Nike has not released any official details of the Air Max 97 including its price and release date. Hence, we cannot further speculate anything.

Previously, Nike released the Betsy Ross flag Air Max sneakers that became quite popular. Will the Air Max 97 create a bigger impact? Well, long-time Nintendo fans are excited for sure. However, there has been no official confirmation from Nike yet. Still considering the very similar pattern, fans are quite certain that there is a connection!

Nevertheless, fan theories aren’t always right. For instance, fans had previously speculated that Nintendo will release the N64 again. However, last year, Nintendo representatives confirmed that the rumors aren’t true.

They said, “We were clear when we did the first two Classic series that, for us, these were limited time opportunities that were a way for us as a business to bridge from the conclusion of Wii U as a hardware system to the launch of Nintendo Switch.”

Could this also be wishful thinking? Or is Nike actually releasing a pair of sneakers inspired by the legendary Nintendo 64 console? Considering the patterns and design of the Air Max 97, it really looks like the latter would be true. Well, we shall find out soon!
