But we think it’s even better.

Google has shared what Pixel 4 will look like from the back already. However, now it is slowly revealing the unmatched features of the phone and what it will be capable of. These features include face unlock that is quite similar to the FaceID by Apple. At the same time, they also include radar-based and hands-free gesture controls. It looks like Google’s flagship phone will fight Apple’s iPhone 11 in regards to these features.

Moreover, Google gave a teaser to a new controls system based on gestures, that is used for navigating. It uses a Soli radar technology, and has been teased in a video titled as “(Don’t) hold the phone: new features coming to Pixel 4.”

The tech giant teased features that switch tracks through hand swipes. This would be a big step up in comparison to the Google Pixel 3a and the other predecessors. However, people are wondering whether these gesture controls will have other uses that Google has thought of already.

In a blog post accompanying the video, Google confirmed that the Pixel 4 will feature a top bezel to provide space to its Soli sensor that will power the phone. Furthermore, Pixel 4 will feature a single front camera.

While the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 is expected to be released in August this year, Google Pixel 4 will come later in October. Indeed, the phone is packed with a wide number of notable features. For the first time, Google has used a technology that is similar to the FaceID by Apple. Apart from the Soli technology, the face unlock uses infrared sensors and a dot projector. Combining it with Soli simply allows the phone to turn the unlock sensors on proactively as soon as you reach for it. Moreover, the face unlocking method in Pixel 4 will work in all orientations (even if you are holding the phone upside down).

According to Google, the facial recognition and Soli data will never be shared with other Google services. Rather, it will exist solely inside your phone. Moreover, Google has also promised that all this data will go into the Titan M security chip inside Pixel 4 for safe-keeping and added privacy.
