Chernobyl Series has Instagrammers Flocking the #ExclusionZone
WTH is going on with these people?
There is no doubt in the fact that the Chernobyl series by HBO is one of the most admired and loved TV series of recent times. The series which is based on the real Chernobyl nuclear power plant disaster is an eye-opener for many. It is so amazingly created that it has beaten even Game of Thrones when it comes to audience ratings.
Unfortunately, the Chernobyl series has also triggered a weird reaction in people, especially Instagram users, and influencers. They are all heading to the real incident site and clicking selfies. The Director of a tour company SoloEast which runs tours around the exclusion zone still surrounding the plant has admitted that there has been a 35 percent rise in the bookings. He added that most of the people had made a booking after watching the show.

Though there is nothing wrong in the desire to watch the place where the Chernobyl series is based, people are quite insensitive about what happened there. They are just considering the site to be a popular place to click selfies (perhaps like the Instagrammable hotels of the world). These people need to realize that 24 people died at that place, and more than 4,000 were seriously ill. This is the place where thousands of lives were ruined or changed forever.
Things are turning so bad that the writer of the Chernobyl series, Craig Mazin considered it essential to talk about it with people. He took to Twitter to say that though it is wonderful to see that Chernobyl series inspired people to visit the accident site, people need to remember that a terrible tragedy took place there and they need to show some respect for people who suffered and sacrificed at that place.
It's wonderful that #ChernobylHBO has inspired a wave of tourism to the Zone of Exclusion. But yes, I've seen the photos going around.
If you visit, please remember that a terrible tragedy occurred there. Comport yourselves with respect for all who suffered and sacrificed.

There are about 20,000 posts on Instagram that include the hashtag #ExclusionZone, and this number is bound to increase as more and more people are hopping on to see the incident site.
We also agree with the writer of Chernobyl series that people need to be more sensitive when visiting the incident site and not be rude about it. What do you think?
