The New Apple iOS 12 is Totally Worth It

The good bit is that all iOS users will benefit from this upgrade.

In recent news, Apple launched its new line of iPhone Xs and it certainly looks promising. There is also a myth going around that Apple updates the iOS to slow down your old phone in order to force you to buy the latest releases, and I’m happy to say it has been disproved with the Apple iOS 12 release. Much like the new line of iPhone Xs, these updates take a play out of Android by offering the one thing Apple users wanted to have: customization. This is bound to tighten up competition with the popular Samsung Galaxy Note 9 if not destroy it.

This update is able to make your old phone keep up. Coming in with a ton of features, and a redesign of some apps it looks much sleeker than previous iterations. It also offers a speed and performance boost making your phone / tablet an efficient computing machine. Here are the major Apple iOS 12 updates we have aside from the obvious performance boost:

Screen Time

The Screen Time App is a tool that helps customers manage their device time, and customize their device according to how they use it. The app lets you see information about your phone use, such as how many times you unlocked it, the apps that eat at your memory, and time stamps on when using your device throughout the day. It also lets you set customizable rules on certain apps for security purposes, and for time management.

Photos

There is now a tab called “For You”, This puts your memories and iCloud albums all in one place and gives you sharing suggestions for it.

Siri and CarPlay upgrades

Siri and CarPlay are now compatible with third party, non-Apple apps. You can now ask Siri to order a coffee or start a workout! Siri has been given a huge 40 language upgrade, and is in the know more when it comes to sports, nutrition, and celebs. You also don’t need Apple Maps to get around any longer.

Smart Notifications

A simple but good change, notifications are now grouped. Gone are the days of getting bombarded by streams of info.

Do not disturb

Apple now has a feature that helps you block the outside world (except for favorite contacts should you choose) should you need it. I, for one will be using this a lot.

AR

Augmented Reality really has been a thing lately, and the Apple iOS 12 update really makes it easier for devs to make better AR apps due to better integration, and more flexibility on iOS’ part. AR files can now be seen in apps such as Messages, Safari, Mail, Files and News.
