The 4th episode of Game of Thrones Season 8 was aired a few hours back, and we can’t help but think that it was more power-packed than the previous episode of Game of Thrones as it was loaded with great content and met most of our expectations. In case you missed the episode for some reason and you can’t make the time to watch it now, here’s a quick recap of what happened.

Spoiler Alert: If you can’t handle Game of Thrones spoilers, you better stop reading.

Don’t mind them much? Keep scrolling!

The first thing we would like to mention that the Game of Thrones episode was so power-packed and filled with a lot of happenings that you might need to watch it twice to understand what the heck happened. Yes, things are moving a bit too fast.

The Burning and the Celebration

Game of Thrones – HBO

Only in Game of Thrones can you see people who are bidding farewell to fallen heroes like Berric, Theon and Ser Jorah one moment and having breakfast the next. After fuelling up, people try to mend their relationships and reveal some ugly truths.

Dany starts with anointing Gendry as Lord Gendry of Storm’s End. This is a clever move because it helps her get the people at Storm’s End on her side. Jon, on the other hand, is praised by his comrades for his admirable leadership skills and was also seen riding a dragon which certainly impressed everyone showing that he could certianly handle anything, to which Dany reacts by rolling her eyes hinting that she fears losing the Iron Throne to Jon.

Breaking the Heart

Now that Gendry has a new designation, he is thinking of settling down a bit. He asks Arya Stark to marry him, and she declines the golden offer. She says that any woman would be lucky to have him but she isn’t that woman, and she has never been (we are pretty sure we have heard such lines outside the world of Game of Thrones too).

Charming the Lady

Jaime follows Brienne out of the party hall and tries to woo her by saying that he hates the north (not the best pick-up line, we think). She replies that it grows on you and the makers of Game of Thrones give us a chance to guess what will happen to those two next. (Everyone saw it coming, trust us.)

No Making Out Mates

Daenerys and Jon try to make out in his room when she visits him, but they aren’t able to do that as the ugly truth is hanging over their heads. She asks him to have her love and keep the relationship going without telling the truth to anyone, but he says that he owes them the truth. She replies that it will destroy them and mentions that he also hid the fact that he was a Targaryen for long.

Counting the Armies

In the war room. Grey Worm reveals that they have lost half for their men while Cersei has strengthened further thanks to the Golden Company’s impressive army. Jon (who likes being the good guy in the Game of Thrones series) pledges the Northern armies to Daenerys. Now, Northern Armies, the Dothraki and the Unsullied are planning to march on King’s Landing while the rest of the crew plans to sail to Dragonstone. Dany says that the great war has been won and it’s time for the last war.

The Revelation

Finally, the moment has arrived for which most Game of Thrones fans have waited with bated breath as Jon has decided to reveal the big family secret to her sisters, Sansa and Arya. We are not much surprised when he asks Bran to drop the news, but we are shocked (and hurt) when the makers don’t show the priceless reactions of the sisters! That was one of the cruellest things the Game of Thrones makers have done.

Are You Ready for the Kill?

Do you remember how Cersei bribed Bronn to kill Jaime and Tyrion and gave him the cool crossbow? Well, the bloke actually shows up in Winterfell (after all, the Game of Thrones season will be finished soon) while Jaime and Tyrion is talking about conquests and tall jokes banter but instead of fullfilling his contract to Cersei, he gives the brothers a chance to bargain. Tyrion promised Bronn the richest house in Westeros, Highgarden, averting the death of the brothers.

Never Trust Sansa

Sansa has proved that she is one person in the entire Game of Thrones series who can spill secrets faster than anyone else. A few minutes after she learns the truth from Bran, she spills the beans to Tyrion when he tells her to back Dany. Thankfully, Tyrion was already in on the secret.

Jon’s Goodbyes

Jon goes on an extended farewell tour and says goodbye to many entities, including his direwolf (Many Game of Thrones fans think that he was not right to abandon Ghost).

The Guessing Game is On

Varys and Tyrion prove they are the top puppet masters of the Game of Thrones series by predicting who should get the Iron Throne. The former says that Jon is a praised warhero and havebetter claim while the latter suggests that they can marry and rule together. Varys highlights that she is his aunt and not fond of sharing. He also mentions that the tedious task of taking on King’s landing is still left.

Oh No!! Rhegal is Shot…Dead!!

Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 4 Quick Review: The Next War
Game of Thrones – HBO

In one of the most painful events of the Game of Thrones Season 8, Dany is flying to Dragonstone with her fleet, Euron Greyjoy and his ships emerge and shoots Rhegal out of the sky with a massive dragon crossbow (Guess what, all his ships have it!) It is painful but quick. Elated by his success (or so it seems), Euron also uses the crossbows to smash some ships, and Dany’s fleet is obliterated. The crew members are washed up on Dragonstone shore looking defeated while Missandei goes missing (maybe the Game of Thrones makers are planning her farewell).

Who’s the Real Cersei?

Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 4 Quick Review: The Next War
Game of Thrones – HBO

Euron travels back to King’s Landing at super-fast speed, and Cersei is seen preparing human shields to win the war. She also reveals that her baby is on the way and will rule both land and sea. Varys knows about Cersei’s plans, and Dany’s talked into a peace offering. But as she is looking like Cersei 2 in the Game of Thrones series recently, her eyes say that she wants to get the throne at any cost!

The Guessing Game Continues

Varys and Tyrion (the popular puppet masters of Game of Thrones we mentioned before) again talk about who should have the throne. Varys likes Jon for it while Tyrion believes more in Dany.

Be Ready for the Heartbreak

Jaime is in deep thought while Brienne is sleeping in the background. Soon after she wakes up and prepares to have her heart broken, she follows Jaime to the yard. Jaime says that he is hateful just like Cersei and admits to killing his cousin, throwing a boy out a window and reveals his willingness (previous, we hope) to kill everyone in Riverrun for Cersei and leaves.

The Imminent Death

Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 4 Quick Review: The Next War
Game of Thrones – HBO

It’s time for every Game of Thrones fan to prepare for another death. Cersei is at her evil best as she has Missandei in shackles and has ensured that dragon crossbows are aimed on Grey Worm, Dany, Tyrion, and several Unsullied. Tyrion tries to negotiate with Qyburn about Cersei’s surrender, but none of them budges. Missandei shouts “Dracarys!” (make the dragon go now in High Valerian) and is beheaded by The Mountain. How cruel you might think the Mountain is, we think the real monster is the one wearing the crown.

That’s it, folks, the fourth episode of Game of Thrones Season 8 ends here, and the fans are left craving for more.

We are sure that the final two episodes of Game of Thrones would be even better than this one and make the wait worth it. Don’t you agree?
