Greta Thunberg Gave a Fierce Speech About Climate Change

Quite a brilliant speech by a 16 year old

Greta Thunberg

Recently, Greta Thunberg, a teenage climate change activist gave a very passionate and fierce speech at the UN headquarters. Her electrifying speech hooked everybody, right in the beginning of the Climate Action Summit.

The event was organized by the United Nations, and its prime aim was to encourage businesses and governments to control carbon emissions. This because the level of carbon emissions hit a high in 2018 despite warnings from scientists for decades.

Greta Thunberg, the 16-year-old activist said, “This is all wrong. I shouldn’t be up here. I should be back in school on the other side of the ocean, yet you all come to us young people for hope. How dare you?”

Within the speech, her voice trembled due to anger in certain instances. Greta Thunberg further added, “You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words.”

Greta Thunberg also stated in her speech that humans are on the road to extinction. At the same time, she mentioned that everything talks about “fairy tales of eternal economic growth” and money all the time.

According to Ms. Greta Thunberg, the odds are not in our favor. She told that the maximum emission cuts would only leave the world with a 50% chance of limiting global warming to 0.4 degrees from our current level.

Around 50+ global leaders were a part of the summit, except the US President Donald Trump and Scott Morrison, the Australian Prime Minister. These global leaders announced a transition from coal power and strict climate measures.

Though, US President Donald Trump did drop in the summit for a brief moment. Miss Greta Thunberg could be seen staring at Donald Trump when he crossed paths with the teenage activist.

The summit was quite an interesting one, as only those leaders were allowed to speak who were offering new action plans against climate change. The activism led by Greta Thunberg, nevertheless, has inspired millions of young and old people to protest on the streets throughout the world. Furthermore, she along with 15 other climate activists filed a children’s rights violation complaint to the UN, against the world leaders.
