The Irishman New Trailer Sparks Debate on De-Aging Effects
The Irishman – Netflix

Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman is one of the most talked-about upcoming films. Fans started talking about it and anticipating the release the moment the first trailer was released. The anticipation for the film seems to be reaching a new peak after the release of a longer trailer that shows the use of de-aging technology. Intentionally or not, everyone is talking about the trailer and the superb de-aging effects that helps Robert De Noro shed off a few years on screen.

The Irishman is a mob drama in which you see Niro swept up in a maelstrom of corruption, politics and organized crime. He stars as The Irishman, Frank Sheeran who is a World War II vet working as a hitman. He ends up working for Russel Bufalino (played by Joe Pesci), the boss of the Bufalino crime family. Frank also ends up helping the infamous union boss Jimmy Hoffa (played by Al Pacino), who enlists Frank in his fight against the government and big business. He asks Frank, “Would you like to be a part of history?”

The trailer of The Irishman is loaded with mob violence and dark humour. One interesting moment from the trailer is when Hoffa drops a gunman who has charged into a courtroom and tells everyone around him, “You always charge a guy with a gun. With a knife you run away. So, you charge with a gun, with a knife you run.”

The Irishman is a unique film because Niro can be seen as 24 years old thanks to the newfangled de-aging effects. People have had a mixed reaction on the looks he is sporting. Some people think that he has achieved the risky Benjamin Button-Esque digitizing while others are comparing it with video game graphics.

De Niro talked about the de-aging effects on Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday evening. The actor joked that de-aging tech might add another 30 years to his career. As of today, De Niro is 76 years old, so we are sure he enjoyed being younger on-screen in The Irishman. After all, such an opportunity isn’t available to all actors, is it?

The Irishman will hit theatres in a couple of weeks . You can also enjoy it on Netflix!
