Many of us grew up watching the Marvel heroes TV series, and many of us still do. If you also prefer to pass the time by streaming TV shows and movies then there’s some good news for you. The details of Disney’s long-awaited streaming service, Disney Plus have been made public recently, and we have all the deets for you right here.
Disney Plus is launched to go head to head with Netflix, an internationally known and loved streaming service. Though fans had little doubt that Disney Plus is launched to challenge the rising popularity of Netflix when the news of cancelled marvel shows on Netflix was confirmed, Disney has now proved that it isn’t afraid of the stiff competition by making its offerings similar to Netflix.
Different franchisees of Disney, like Star Wars, Pixar, Marvel, and even National Geographic will have their own landing pages on the platform. Like Netflix, Disney Plus will make use of an algorithm to serve up content to watch histories specific to each user. It will also have columns such as Recommended for You, Disney+ Originals and Continue Watching. The streaming service will also let users add movies and series to a watch list that will be personalized for them.
Disney Plus will also let account holders create different user profiles and make use of parental control. According to Disney Executives, the films would be available directly after the home release. It isn’t good news for Platforms like Amazon Prime Video or Apple where these films are available for rent.
It is also being estimated that Disney might bundle ESPN+, Hulu and Disney+ service at a bargain price to offer some benefit to the loyal customers of Disney. The company is even organizing the services’ app by these categories. It is also estimated that Disney will load Disney Plus a family-friendly content while Hulu will offer more-adult-oriented content.
The company has also revealed that Disney Plus will be released in early 2020 in the US. It will be making its debut in Europe only in the first half of 2020, and then the service would be launched across the world in the next few months.
Disney is quite serious about the success of Disney Plus. This is the reason Disney Plus has secured partnerships with PlayStation 4 and Roku. But the road is quite lengthy as the wider release on game consoles and Smart TVs is still in the works.
Disney Plus will cost about $7 a month in the US or $70 a year. The price is set as such because the company has substantially less volume and intends to make up for it by offering high-quality programming from its vast entertainment empire.
Disney Plus will include movies and shows like Star Wars: The Clone Wars new season, (it will be exclusive of Disney Plus), Marvel movies, (starting Captain Marvel – 2019), Star Wars films, (starting with Episode 9 of 2019), Pixar films (starting with Toy Story 4 of 2019) and a Star Wars TV series, The Mandalorian.
It might also feature a Star Wars Rogue One prequel TV series, a Marvel series, a Marvel limited series, a live-action Marvel series and a What If-themed Marvel series. Reports also say that Disney Plus will have documentaries like a Marvel’s Hero Project which is aimed to feature positive changes made by young people in their respective communities. Another documentary might also be launched that will be aimed at exploring the intersection between the real world and Marvel’s stories. A documentary regarding Walt Disney Imagineering might also be planned.
Monster’s Inc. fans would love to know that Disney Plus might also feature an animated series known as Monsters at work that will be a spin-off of Monster’s Inc. A series adapted from Escape to Witch Mountain might also air on Disney Plus. Remakes of Lady and the Tramp, Three Men, and a Baby and Sword in the Stone might also be there.
You might also get to see a high school musical series, films like Togo, Noelle, The Paper Magician film, a Stargirl film, and a Timmy Failure film. Disney Plus might also feature a short series called Diary of a Female President. A reality show Encore! and a cooking competition which will be called Be Our Guest are also being planned.
