It’s been more than 16 years since the popular TV show, Friends stopped airing. The fans of the show never gave up hope and waited for the Friends Reunion for years. The dedication of the fans has been rewarded as Friends Reunion was confirmed recently.

It is being reported that each of the main members of Friends Reunion will be paid USD 3 (AUD4.55) million. Lisa Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc, and Courteney Cox will return to the one-off special that will be released on HBO Max in May. The money is double than what these actors got years back when they appeared in the 10th season in 2004.

The amount paid to actors who will be a part of Friends Reunion is huge considering that the lead pair of the super-popular Game of Thrones series Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke got just $500,000 an episode.

The announcement of Friends Reunion on HBO Max is not a big surprise for people who follow WarnerMedia. It is a well-known fact that the company paid over USD 425 (AUD 643) million to get exclusive rights to the series in 2019. Friends was on Netflix before that.

Friends Reunion will provide HBO Max with a good chance to stand up against competitors like Disney Plus that has already wooed the audience with The Mandalorian, or more specifically Baby Yoda! The internet sensation was popular for eight weeks in a row and is the main reason why most fans are awaiting the second season of the show so desperately.

HBO Max is also pricier than other streaming providers like Apple TV Plus, Hulu, Peacock and Disney Plus. In addition to Friends Reunion, shows like The Big Bang Theory, The Matrix and most of the DC movies are also being planned to be released to make it worthwhile for the audience.

Australian fans who have been waiting for Friends Reunion would need to have patience regarding the release date as nothing is announced as of now. The best we can say is that Foxtel has an exclusive agreement with HBO. It is reported that the agreement might be expanded to show the original content of HBO Max. Still, nothing is confirmed yet.
