Game of Thrones – HBO

Game of Thrones is not just an epic show; it’s a world in itself where people breathe and fight for the Iron Throne. For loyal fans, the world is as good as real because they truly believe in it. If you are a fan of the series too and the Game of Thrones finale has not given you all the answers you needed, then read on. Here we have collected 20 things revealed by The Last Watch Documentary that will help you to understand the effort made by not only the actors but every member of the crew.

1. The Secret Behind Arya’s Biggest Kill

Game of Thrones – HBO

Many people have wondered how Arya Stark appeared just in time to attack the Night King, who was more powerful and longer (in height) than her. Well, the answer to that is she leaped onto him by stepping on and jumping off a pile of dead Wights.

2. The Reactions

When Arya’s special moment was revealed during the table reading, Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) was all smiles while The Hound (Rory McCann) was seen fist pumping. (Isn’t that fatherly?)

3. The Last Scenes

Kit Harrington, Jacob Anderson and Liam Cunningham’s last scene in the Game of Thrones series was when Davos and Jon try to stop Grey Worm from executing Lannister soldiers after Dany and Drogon have destroyed the King’s Landing.

4. Dany Walks Away

Emilia Clarke’s last scene was her walking away from Jon in the snow that might have been in Winterfell.

5. The Final Reveal

The cast of Game of Thrones received their scripts just three days prior to the first table read.

6. The Emotional Reaction

Kit Harrington didn’t read the script before the table read so when he read that he would be killing Dany, he cried. So did Clarke. (We hope she is not killed in the upcoming Game of Thrones books)

7. The Code Name

The fourth episode of the last season of Game of Thrones was given the code name The Faith of Angels. For the uninitiated, its real name was The Last of the Starks.

8. Unreal Snow

The snow used on the set was a mixture of water and paper.

9. Huge Sets

The sets of Game of Thrones were huge. They could have had up to 350 crew members at a time.

10. The Paper Size

The road map for each scene is drawn on U.S. letter size paper by Director David Nutter. A4 won’t work!

11. The Speedy Ones

Direwolves can run at a speed of 30 MPH if need be. (We envy you, Ghost)

12. The Returnees

A lot of extras return to Game of Thrones. Andrew McClay played the Stark guard for the last five seasons. Well, that’s what we call loyalty.

13. The Fancy Jackets

As Game of Thrones is a huge show, its cast and crew have jackets that feature the house they worked in, with images and sayings on the back and house name on the right. The unit name is also there. The three units are White Walker, Wolf, and Dragon.

14. The Fake King’s Landing

As HBO couldn’t destroy the real-world location of the King’s Landing, Dubrovnik, they built a new set in Belfast, Northern Ireland, which took seven months. Dany and Drogon destroyed it quite swiftly!

15. The Lovely Wig

All the girls who are jealous of Dany’s hair should be delighted to know that it’s a wig that Emilia has to wear. Putting on the wig was much of a problem in the earlier seasons when the actress had darker hair.

16. The First of the Last

The first scene of Game of Thrones Season 8 to be shot was in which Dany and Jorah speak to Sam, and Dany informs him that she had Sam’s brother and father killed as they refused to bow down to her.

17. The Weird Van Name

The food stand on Game of Thrones set is called the “Heart Attack Van.” (it’s quite amusing!)

18. Who’s the Night King?

Interestingly, the person who played the role of the Night King was a stuntman of the show, Vladimir Furdik.

19. They Came Back for Nothing

Jaqen, The Night King and The Waif were asked to be on the set even when they were done with their parts, just to confuse people looking for the leaks.

20. Even Harrington was Called Back

Jon Snow was invited to the set even when he had nothing to do and was finished with his scenes. The makers had him flown to Spain to confuse people seeking story leaks.

We must say that all the efforts in making Game of Thrones have been paid off because HBO did get the highest ratings ever thanks to the iconic show loved by millions!
