Though Game of Thrones Season 8 has been concluded for a couple of months now and rumours say the shooting for Game of Thrones Prequel has also begun, fans are not letting it go. They are after every piece of information they can find regarding the last season because they need to understand the ending better and hope the eliminated scenes would give them answers.

It seems that the wishes of such fans have come true as the Director of Game of Thrones, Miguel Sapochnik has admitted that there had been plans to shoot an iconic sequence where 50 direwolves would have fought one undead dragon, but the creators of the show, D.B. Weiss and David Benioff eliminated it.

The battle between the dragon and direwolves would have been a part of “The Long Night” episode where everyone was fighting against the Night King and his army and people thought Jon would show everyone how to become an alpha male by killing the Night King for good. But that didn’t happen too as Arya Stark killed the Night King and got all the love and appreciation.

The Director of Game of Thrones also mentioned that Dan and Dave were quite unrelenting of what they expected from the other members of the show. Many people wanted them to add the iconic sequence, but they refused. The creators were ruthless about what they wanted and didn’t bow to anyone’s demands. In the end, the makers’ wishes were given preference, and some of the opposers even realized that some of the things planned during the battle were physically impossible.

Sapochnik didn’t explain from where did the direwolves would have come to join the battle as, by the 8th season, only Nymeria and Ghost are the two alive ones among the six direwolves shown in Game of Thrones TV series. Maybe, Nymeria’s pack had grown in a couple of months since we last saw her? We can only guess.

What do you think of the decision of cutting out the epic battle between a dragon and 50 direwolves in Game of Thrones Season 8? We think it would have made the final season more interesting.
