Ever since the Earth music video by Lil Dicky became famous, many people have been keeping an eye on how they can help the planet. If you are one of them, then one step you need to take is to stop getting bored with your clothes and just throwing them away. As per the latest report by the Environment Protection Agency, the textile waste has risen by 811 percent in the last few decades. It was 1.76 million tons in the 1960s, and the number rose to 16 tons in 2015. It’s about time we all learn waste management before we ruin the planet entirely!

According to EPA, over 65 percent of this textile waste is being dumped in the landfills, which is not so smart considering the other waste management options we have. In addition to textile, plastic waste has also risen drastically because it rose by 8, 746 percent. Leather and rubber waste have also increased by 361 percent.

You can’t blame anyone specifically for playing a role in increasing textile waste or following poor waste management practices as consumers and manufacturers share the blame equally. As consumers look for fashion trends to continue this year, the manufacturers are compelled to create new pieces and the old ones (at the manufacturing facility or the homes of the consumers) add to the waste pile.

One way to reduce textile waste and learn proper waste management is to try some epic clothing combos. Some others are mentioned here.

Give Away Clothes

If you want to get rid of the old clothes, don’t throw them away but donate to someone who needs it. There are plenty of people in the world who can’t even afford to buy clothes easily.

Swap Clothes

Another smart way is to swap your clothes with your friends and family members or even strangers. Maybe the red tee you are bored of is liked by your cousin or your neighbour?

Learn to Recycle

If you are a bit craft-oriented, you can make other clothes out of existing clothes like denim shorts from old jeans. If you are not so crafty, you can just cut it into pieces and have some rags ready for cleaning tasks!
