Creating TV shows based on comic books has become a kind of trend across the world. The main reason such shows are a hit is the audiences are already familiar with the characters and have some love for them. One of such TV shows that were anticipated by the audience is the Umbrella Academy. It is based on the comic books from artist Gabriel Bá and Gerard Way. This show first aired on Netflix (season 1) and might return for season 2 soon.

This superhero saga has a quirkier and darker spin on the X-Men formula. It begins with the birth of 43 superhuman infants who come into the world suddenly through the wombs of women who showed no signs of pregnancy. Sir Reginald Hargreeves, a philanthropist and a wealthy investor, buys seven of those babies and raises them, so they become the superheroes at the titular Umbrella Academy. As Sir Reginald Hargreeves is quite ruthless and only wants the results, all seven of the superheroes are psychologically damaged and dysfunctional.

According to the three Umbrella Academy stories that have been published so far, Sir Reginald Hargreeves can be seen trying to reconnect with all seven superheroes and hoping to make them a functional team. As one might have guessed, putting the past behind is not easy for the heroes.

All the superheroes were numbered by Sir Reginald Hargreeves on the basis of their abilities and usefulness. The numbers and abilities of the superheroes are mentioned right here.

Spaceboy aka Luther Hargreeves is number one because he is always eager to please his father. He also has super strength and prefers to spend his time off-planet. He also has a crush on Number three, his adoptive sister.

The Kraken aka Diego Hargreeves is the number two has the ability to hold his breath forever. He is also blessed with exceptional combat skills and has a ruthless personality which makes him the most skilled fighter.

The Rumor aka Allison Hargreeves is number three. Her superpower is quite unique. She can change the reality by saying the phrase “I heard a rumor…” Her life is not easy as she is plagued by guilt due to the fact that her ex-husband has the complete custody of Claire, their daughter.

The Séance aka Klaus Hargreeves is number four, and he has the ability to commune with and levitate the dead when he isn’t wearing shoes. He is the most nihilistic and morbid member of the family, especially after an incident where he died briefly and was rejected by both Hell and Heaven.

Number five is without a normal name and is a string that joins the family together, He is a time traveller who is trapped in the body of a ten-year-old self.

The Horror aka Ben Hargreeves was number six, and he could unleash monsters that are hidden beneath his skin. He died during a mission of the Umbrella Academy, and now his memories are alive thanks to a memorial statue.

The White Violin aka Vanya Hargreeves is number seven. She was insulted by her adoptive father constantly while growing up because she lacked any superpowers. Her violin practice paid off when she joins Orchestra Verdammten and transforms into a supervillain known as The White Violin.

Season 2: Likely to Happen?

– – – – – Warning: Spoiler Alert!! – – – – –

The Umbrella Academy Season 1 ended on a high note as it showed the end of the world. The fans of the show are sure that the superhumans they love could have survived the horrible incident. The showrunner, Steve Blackman says that he realized it was possible that the last scene of Season 1 could be the last of the show. So, he created the final scene with the hopes that people would want to know what happens next, especially those who haven’t read the comic books yet.

Though Netflix hasn’t shared whether there will be a season 2 or not, the fans and Steve are hoping that Netflix would allow a Season 2. We also think that Season two will happen, because Netflix needs to keep the audience hooked after cancelling two of its key shows, The Punisher, and Jessica Jones recently. Umbrella Academy is also a key contender for Marvel shows on Disney+ that will be aired soon.

As Netflix usually takes a month before deciding whether to continue a show or cancel it, fans can get the answer to whether Umbrella Academy Season 2 will happen or not by mid-March. Even after the announcement is made, the show might not return until 2020 as creating a show with special effects takes time. Also, Netflix likes to release its shows usually a year apart.

It is being estimated that in the Umbrella Academy Season 2, the superhumans would be their younger selves who might travel back in time using five’s powers. If that happens, there is a possibility that Ben will also return. No matter where they end up and how old they are, the superhumans would still attempt to save Vanya from succumbing to the destructive powers she has and save the world too. They will also contend with the time organization Five used to work for as their aim will be to ensuring the apocalypse happens and the timeline is protected.
