The Squad Got Bigger: The Suicide Squad Cast Revealed

With the growing popularity of Marvel movies, DC is gearing up for some tough competition. In addition to launching great projects in the future like Birds of Prey, it is making the existing movies more exciting. The full cast reveal of The Suicide Squad is proof of that. The cast names were revealed by James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) who will be in charge of the second part of the financially successful film, The Suicide Squad.

 

The Old Faces

Many of the stars from the first film will reprise their roles in The Suicide Squad . Margot Robbie (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) will be Harley Quinn again, Jai Courtney will be Captain Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman will be Rick Flag, and Viola Davis will be Amanda Waller once again. The film will focus more on the bad guys than the good ones so, you can connect it with the Joker movie more than a Batman film.  

The New Faces

Some of the new faces joining the cast are Idris Elba, Storm Reid, Alice Braga, Peter Capaldi, John Cena, Taika Waititi, Nathan Fillion, and Jennifer Holland. Sean Gunn and Michel Rooker.

 

The Warning

While announcing the cast, James Gunn warned the fans that they shouldn’t fall in love with any of the characters by writing this on Instagram: “Don’t get too attached.” It obviously means that some of the characters would be dead by the time the film ends.

 

Advanced Planning

There were many fan theories that the cast would assemble soon for a table read of The Suicide Squad. Gunn debunked the theories by stating that the table read has already been done without anyone knowing about it.

The Missing Piece

One of the cast members of the original Suicide Squad who won’t be making an appearance is Will Smith. He played the role of Deadshot as his character won’t even appear in the film. It was previously reported that Idris Elba would replace Smith as Deadshot, but sources broke the news earlier this year that Deadshot will not be in “ The Suicide Squad ,” and Idris Elba will be playing a new character in the film.

As neither Gunn nor Warner Bros have revealed which characters many of the actors will be playing, your guess is as good as ours. Maybe they will share some hints before August 2021 when the film is slated to be released
